| Today was one of our favorite days of the year! On duty firefighters welcomed the City of Peekskill Police Department Youth Police Academy cadets for a station visit. Our members set up some firefighting activities and a few games for the cadets to participate in. The activities included a firefighter relay race, a “live fire” fire extinguisher exercise, a forcible entry demonstration, and using a real fire hose to knock down traffic cones.
The cadets also had a delicious lunch, provided by our membership and then finished the day out by getting soaked under a fire engine sprinkler!
It was a great day, and we’re already looking forward to & planning for next year’s Academy visit! A special thanks to the PPD Youth Academy instructors and staff for the opportunity to hang out with the cadets for the day; this program has always been such a positive thing for the youth of our community, and we’re proud to have a small part in that success! |
