| This week’s training topic was a review of pumping operations. Operating a pump on a fire engine is much more complex than opening and closing a few valves. Being a proficient pump operator involves the setting & balancing pressures, ensuring a continuous positive water source, troubleshooting & correcting water supply issues, and making sure interior firefighting crews have a sufficient water supply for fire suppression and safety. In many ways, the pump operator can be the difference maker for a successful incident outcome. |
