This week, members trained on Roof Rope rescue operations. Using some life safety rope and lowering devices, firefighters were lowered down from top level of the James Street parking garage.

Roof rope rescue operations are employed when a victim is trapped on an upper floor of a high-rise building, out of the reach of a ladder. This scenario may require firefighters to be lowered down the side of a building to rescue the trapped victim, as a last resort.

Roof rope rescues are a very low frequency event, that we must be prepared to put into action when seconds count.
