More new equipment to familiarize with this week! Members spent the week training with our new Rescue and Stabilization struts. The purpose of the struts is to prevent the accidental or unintended movement of unstable objects, to prevent further injury or property damage. These rescue struts would typically be used to stabilize a vehicle that is rolled on its side or roof, while a patient is removed from the vehicle.

We conducted these evolutions using vehicles that we store for training purposes. A special thanks to Peekskill DPW staff for positioning the vehicles so we could train under realistic conditions.

This week also had a drill night for Volunteer Firefighters. Members trained on Fire Hydrant operations. We have a variety of different hydrant sizes and configurations throughout the City. Members must be familiar with all different types and how to connect to them, as securing a positive water source is on of the most important tasks on the fireground.

**Have an old vehicle sitting around you need to dispose of? Consider donating it to us to be used for training! Contact us for details!**
