Rope rescue was on the schedule for this week. Career members practiced building lowering and hauling systems for low angle rescue of a victim from below grade and up a steep slope. Evolutions involved patient packaging into a stokes rescue basket, and bringing the victim up the slope using the rope hauling systems.

This week also had a drill night scheduled for Volunteer Firefighters. Members were in-service trained and familiarized with the Electric Vehicle nozzle and Portable Hose Monitor that was delivered with the new engine. All members, career and volunteer, must receive standardized initial training on all new pieces of equipment. This ensures all members are familiar with the equipment’s purpose, function, nomenclature, and safe practices.
