The Fire Department has thirty-one Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) on its career staff. These EMT’s respond to EMS emergencies throughout the city to assist the Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps with providing high quality patent care as fast as possible. For all EMS calls 2-3 of our EMTs will respond on a Engine and start patent care until Peekskill VAC arrives on scene. Our EMTs also respond on lift assist calls, or calls where someone has fallen and are too weak to get up but are un injured. This allows Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps to remain available for more critical emergencies when they happen. The Fire Department EMT’s are also available to drive the ambulance from the scene to the hospital if EMS is short staffed due to multiple emergencies going on in the city or if the call is serious and another set of hands is needed for better patent care.
